The Poles against the EU: no to the end of cash, combustion engines and restrictions on meat. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Poles don't like the menu served by the EU . And from you? (At the end of the survey). According to a survey conducted by the European Policy Research Center (CBPE), Poles are against the EU policy of banning the registration of combustion vehicles and ideas circulating in the EU about forests, meat, clothes and a cashless economy.

The poll reports that 67% of respondents are against an EU rule that will ban Europeans from registering combustion engine vehicles from 2035. The idea of an EU ban is supported by only 28% of Poles.

Opposition to the EU ban on registering such vehicles can be found across a broad spectrum of Polish society, including people living in urban and rural areas, as well as those with higher education qualifications and those who have only finished high school.

The CPBE poll also asked respondents for their opinion on the idea of shifting power over forests away from member states to the EU. More than half of the respondents, 57%, opposed this idea. Only 34% are in favour. Again, opposition to the idea is similar across all age and socio-economic groups.

Another idea being discussed in the EU is to limit meat consumption to 16 kilograms per person per year, as well as to limit the sale of clothes to eight new items per person. All obviously for the Green, the environment and the limitation of CO2 emissions.

Only 21% supported the goal of reducing meat consumption, while 76% opposed it. The results are similar when it comes to buying new clothes, with 23% in favor and 73% against.

Poles are also against a cashless economy. The European Parliament recently recommended research into a digital euro, but that has not yet been launched. Privacy advocates warn that a cashless society could have serious consequences for personal freedom, with authorities able to trace all transactions in real time. This could be a prerequisite for imposing strict limits on what people can buy, including clothing items and meat products. Digital currencies could also be tied to social credit scores relating to political opinions and social behavior, as is the case in China.

Proponents of a cashless society within Brussels argue that digital currencies would limit the black market. However, 81% of Poles oppose the elimination of cash, while only 17% are in favor.

Similar opposition to a cashless society can be found in countries such as Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Last year, more than 500,000 Austrians signed a petition calling for the right to use cash to be enshrined in the Austrian constitution. As a result, a referendum on the issue will be launched in the country. With a population of 8.9 million, the massive show of support for the right to pay with cash demonstrates the growing movement against digital money, including central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
