Leonardo, here's what the Fim-Cisl thinks and will do

The intervention of Roberto Benaglia, general secretary of Fim Cisl, on the strike of 6 December announced in the Leonardo group

Leonardo is an important and industrially solid group with many strengths.

We do not share the attitude of other unions who portray it as a group in crisis, without strategies, essentially in disarray.

However, the Fim Cisl asks that, in the context of the important changes that the Italian and European defense industry is facing, the government assumes the responsibility of giving all Italian and national producers strategic guidelines, first of all involving the trade union. .

This is why the Fim essentially strikes only in the sites involved, also and above all to promote trade union discussions on Aerostructures, in order to create and manage an important trade union agreement in the coming weeks aimed at defining investments for the Aerostructures sites and a management of shock absorbers that do not burden the workers' shoulders.

Therefore, on 6 December the Fim Cisl declares 8 hours of strike in the Leonardo group that are going through difficult employment situations, to be solved through bargaining, as well as in the sites and Divisions that are at the center of industrial structures and choices requiring solutions from the part. of the Government starting from the Defense Systems division, for which we ask the Government to involve us and to guarantee valid guidelines in terms of employment.

This is why we do not share the idea of a strike by the whole group. At this moment it is not necessary and it does not give any extra strength to the proposals that the union must carry out in an absolutely cohesive way, accelerating the confrontation with the company and not postponing it.

On Aerostructures, starting with the workers concerned, we have known for over a year and a half that the Division is experiencing a decline in work resulting from the crisis in the civil flight market which has caused a stop in production for long-haul aircraft (787, A380, etc.) which mainly involves Boeing programs.

However, we must give certainties of employment stability to the workers of the four sites involved in this crisis, also in light of the request formalized by the company to access the Cigo for 2022.

We continue to reiterate that the Cigo must be negotiated with the unions starting from industrial plans and certain commitments on new investments.

These must be translated into new productions and products, aimed at solving this crisis without employment risks and giving a new future to the sites, starting with that of Grottaglie.

We want to discuss investments with Leonardo before even thinking about employment solutions.
